This comedic contemporary dance work follows a peculiar character along a curious journey of discovery. Exploring themes of isolation, understanding and subverting expectations, the audience are brought on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, ideas and surprising encounters.

Nonsensical is Joel Fenton's first full-length solo performance, running for approximately 50 minutes. Originally conceived during Joel's Master of Dance studies at the Victorian College of the Arts and further developed whilst working as Artist in Residence at University of Tasmania and a Tasdance residency.

Joel Fenton is an Australian contemporary dance theatre performer, choreographer and teacher. He completed a Master of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2017 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) at Queensland University of Technology in 2010. His masters explored the process of creating and crafting contemporary dance theatre through his SITCOMS task based improvisation practice.

Joel was awarded an Australia Council JUMP mentorship with Shaun Parker in 2013 and has been a company member of Shaun Parker & Company since 2015, he will be touring internationally with the company in 2019. Joel has performed works choreographed by Darren Vizer, Becky Hilton, Stephanie Lake, Marnie Palomares, Luke George and Antony Hamilton. Joel has choreographed for Lyric Opera Company and several short works for QL2's On Course program. He produced Summer Solo Series from 2012-14, where he performed and choreographed alongside several Melbourne based dance artists.
