SETE TELE - THE ISLAND

BOOK NOW

The Island is a conversation about circumnavigation. This is a participatory experimental dance work, where the audience will be invited to assist in creating in imagining the narrative for that particular night. Yes, each performance will be slightly different.

The Island was developed and will be performed by Sete Tele. The Island is a place based performance where the content of the work is inspired by the place of presentation, which in this iteration, is Melbourne.

The Island was initially developed in Perth (Western Australia), and had further development in Toronto (Canada), and Launceston.

Sete Tele is a multi-award winning performer, choreographer and educator. His fluidity in transitioning between performance contexts conveys an adaptability that is open and expansive. As a mature artist, Sete enjoys the continual development of his practice by collaborating with other like-minded provocateurs. Sete's aesthetic is to re-contextualize the human to human, whereby the rules of interaction are challenged to navigate a paradigm shift arriving at a new protocol. Improvisation is Sete's base that informs all aspects of his practice: the constant exploring and shifting of material unveils what is appropriate. This foundation continues to evolve, to be reconfigured in response to the requirements of the project at hand. The experience is particular to that moment in time, that space, that place. It is ephemeral. That is the constant.
