Tertiary Dance Weekend: PAUL SIMON JACKSON
15 November 2014 - 16 November 2014
NO BOOKINGS REQUIRED!
Three Body Problem is a development work by Deakin Post Graduate student Paul Simon Jackson. Paul has been working in the studio with Rechelle, Fiona and Esperanza and looking at how these three human bodies move together. He's interested in how physical information is exchanged within the performance space and has been examining this across improvised and set movement.
The movement of celestial bodies is a source of inspiration. Each body in the system has an inevitable influence over the others, affecting trajectory and velocity. Layering multiple influences on top of each other produces more complex spatial patterns like those of a spirograph.
The dancers meet each other across a series of set structures and number patterns. Bringing their bodies into the exchange, they find fluidity and flexibility, gradually morphing a quantifiable structure into something more human. - Paul Simon Jackson
