What's Coming

BOOK TICKETS

For over two years Alexandra Harrison - the current Dancehouse Housemate artist-in-residence - has indulged in divining the shape of movement to come. In a wry prophesy for the future of dance, What's Coming is a creation and curation of festive proportions over five evenings at Dancehouse.

Patterns of the past, animal oracles, elders, painters, writers, poets, scientists, maps, philosophers and children are consulted - contributing to an inclusive vision that is choreography, video, film, lecture, library and dance.

Beginning with a hazardous one-hour drum roll and concluding with a Line-Up of over 20 dancers from all over Australia in a live (and urgent) accumulation of multiple movement futures, What's Coming is a distinctive approach to performance, presence and ideas.

Originally conceived over tea and biscuits with an 84-year old woman called Daphne Kingston who declared "coming events cast their shadows", What's Coming continues the conversation in an active and provocative dialogue and braces choreographic study.

Considering the conditions of the present, What's Coming and its prophetic concerns quickly became a playful articulation of the serious business of paying attention. Perhaps as where we stand becomes clear, so too does where, and how, we can move.
