In a relatively short history of modern dance, an awkward chain events has unfolded that goes something like this: a choreographer gets older, his dancers get younger and suddenly, plopped in to the middle of a work, is a solo in which the ageing choreographer tries to get his groove back. John Jasperse, 43, wants no part of it.
GIA KOURLAS, The New York Times

Becky Hilton, Jodi Melnick and John Jasperse met, through dancing, over 20 years ago. While their paths have brought them to varied places, they remain friends. Becky, Jodi and John is a poetic portrait of these individuals, a celebration of their varied senses of humor and their commitment to dance.

Choreographed by John Jasperese in collaboration with Becky Hilton and Jodi Melnick, the evening-length work for three dancers features an original score composed by Hahn Rowe, and lighting design by Joe Levasseur and John Jasperse. Jasperse and his peers address through this project the issue of sustaining a performing career past forty.

This is art by and for adults: deeply silly and moving and smart. Claudia La Rocco, The New York Times
