Dancehouse actively supports individual artists, working in diverse modes of physical practice and across different stages of career development. It also gives independent artists access to professional presenting opportunities.

2018 KEIR CHOREOGRAPHIC AWARD

The Keir Choreographic Award (KCA) is a national biennial award dedicated to the commission, presentation, promotion and dissemination of new Australian choreography. The selected artists for 2018 are: Amrita Hepi, Melanie Lane, Bhenji Ra, Nana Biluš Abaffy, Luke George, Lillian Steiner, Prue Lang and Branch Nebula (Lee Wilson and Mirabelle Wouters).

Eszter Salamon questions the power of the gaze of the dancer and audience, and at the same time, the performative body. Is what we see what we get? Is the body a construction of our desire or our fears? What do we expose by exposing our body to the gaze of someone else? This performance is the public outcome of a choreographic lab led by ESZTER SALAMON assisted by Boglàrka Börcsök the week prior.

Over the past few years, American choreographer Meg Stuart has created several solos, exploring everyday movements and physical conditions. An evening of solo works presents a selection of these former solo works, as well as excerpts from evening-length performances.
