Ausdance skill set for Teaching Dance

We know that great teachers, and dance, change lives. Ausdance is pleased to announce a new course, The Ausdance skill set for teaching dance.
As dance becomes embedded in the National Curriculum, dance teachers will be in demand. Be prepared and armed with the latest teaching strategies and skills to make you a 'must have' for many schools, clubs and organisations.
The Ausdance skills set for teaching dance is delivered as a 2 week course. It provides dancers with the skills and teaching strategies needed to successfully teach dance in community, recreational and social settings (including schools). Those who complete the course will receive a Statement of Attainment which is nationally recognised.
Lead Trainer
Dr Katrina Rank
Katrina Rank is a dancer, educator, researcher and community dance artist. She trained in classical, modern and cultural dance at the Australian Ballet School, graduating in 1986. She performed professionally in Australia and in the UK, with Northern Ballet Theatre. In 1994 she was awarded a Bachelor of Education (Dance and Drama), danced in independent contemporary dance works and films and began her practice in teaching and community dance. She completed a PHD in dance performance in 2000.
Katrina has taught across education sectors, teaching dance from P - 6, 7-10 VCE and VET sectors as well as tertiary settings and special schools. In the community, she has worked with many varied cultural groups and in the disability sector.
In 2007, Katrina was engaged as the Caroline Plummer Fellow of Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand and in 2009 was Artist in Residence for the City of Darebin. Katrina is currently the Manager of Education and Training at Ausdance (Victoria), the peak body for dance in Victoria.
Course Dates
Ausdance Victoria is currently taking expressions of interest for the following courses:
7 - 11 December 2009 & 25 - 29 January 2010: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
2 weekends and 9 Monday nights
17 - 18 April 2010, 9am - 5pm
Monday nights, 5:30pm - 9:30pm
19, 26 April, 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 May, 7 & 14 June 2010
19 - 20 June, 2010 9am - 5pm
29 March - 1 April, Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm
& 28 June - 2 July 2010, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm

Fees and Charges
Course fee for Ausdance members: $1,350 + GST
Fees are payable on enrolment, but may be paid in installments by prior arrangement.
