Dancehouse Diary ISSUE 5

Dancehouse Diary ISSUE 5 (July-Sept. 2013)

Call for Contributions
Deadline: 10 June 2013

Dancehouse publishes a free publication called Dancehouse Diary every three months. The DANCEHOUSE DIARY is the only dance publication in Australia based on discourse, dialogue and connection with other art forms and wider society issues. THE DANCEHOUSE DIARY hopes to provoke thinking about dance, art and its place in society. Writings are specifically linked to an editorial theme that Dancehouse uses as a provocation for contributions. Dancehouse Diary is now open to contributions as a response to our editorial focus. The editorial theme for this issue is BODY SOCIAL, BODY POLITICAL, BODIES OF NOW.

What you should submit:

We are looking for articles which are innovative, challenging and experimental responses to the editorial theme. Beginning with Mauss' and Foucault's premise that the body is permeated by social and cultural forces, the theme of this Diary seeks to explore the many ways in which the social body and the dancing body interact between socio-political bodies and human bodies. With this issue, we would like to explore the ways in which prevailing geo-political and economic contexts affect our physical selves (bodily senses, energies, desires and behaviours) and to extent to which the dancing body mirrors the current societal challenges of our world.

Your contributions should be:

- 1000 words (max), with biographic references or annotations included if appropriate (not part of word count)
- 100 word biography of contributors
- a single A4 page CV

We also accept visual responses (drawings, photos)

If submitting a visual response, images should be at print quality (300dpi, preferably jpeg or tiff formats), including credits for the image.

You will be informed of the response to your proposal via email by June 15th, 2013.
Your contributions will be considered by the board of editors, and in exceptional situations may be subject to changes, which will be sent to the contributor for final review.

Successful contributors will NOT be remunerated.

Editorial decisions will be made by the DD editorial board. The Editors for this issue are Philipa Rothfield (Chair), Angela Conquet, Ashley Dyer, Becky Hilton, Olivia Millard.
